Postal Interviews

For postal interviews, questionnaires are sent out by mail to the respondents. An advantage of postal interview is that you can include the product or communication material you want evaluated. This way, the respondent can relate to the actual physical material, while they respond to the survey, which is not possible in for example telephone interviews.

Unlike telephone interviews, respondents in postal interviews can respond to the survey when it fits into their schedule. Unlike web interviews, the survey can include respondents, who do not use the internet, if the method is based on postal interviews.

A disadvantage of postal interviews is that the data collection often takes more time than for example web interviews. In postal interviews there can also be some bias connected to who is likely to respond to the survey.
